Carriero OOC Community

Konbanwa, inmates. (Or yasu-fucking-me already, holy shit, what are so many insomniacs doing in one game. I don't think we have any "ohayou" holdouts left by now. Doji in pace requiescat.) The end of a beautifully derelict August activity check approaches for us, as we pay our respects to the departed souls of all but about eight characters. Fitting, on the eighth day of the eighth month. Feel free to imagine whatever summer poetry makes this next sentence easier to swallow: "This game has been fewer than six feet under for far too long."

Different people probably have different opinions on what of interest has been happening here lately, but in total what's happening has been a pitiful paucity of anything at all. July thrilled us with less than half a dozen posts. June did practically the same thing. I'm not even going to touch May.

So this is an announcement that at this point, Carriero is officially seriously considering its endgame. Petition to keep this game open. (Maybe strong-arm the game's third or fourth mod changeover!) Take notes of any important regains you want your character to have taken out of the party game. And most importantly, write a bucket list, because last orders for this game are in all likelihood coming up. You don't have to go home but you can't - stay - here.

Due to a number of circumstances, Carriero again finds itself facing important decisions about its future. Dakotah will be stepping down as mod of the game, leaving Bird more or less running ship alone.

At this point, we would like to ask for input from the cast on what you would like to see happen. An end-game event could be possible at this point, should a consensus be reached that that would be a good idea. Other options include Bird taking on full modding duties and/or acquiring a helper mod to fill the void.

In any case, Dakotah will be sticking around until things have been sorted, and at this point, we value any and all feedback the playerbase has to give us.

✦ A Note On Mature Content

Due to a recent event, we would like to remind you about Carriero's policy on mature content. Between the nature of the game and some of the characters involved, violence is inevitable, and the mod team does want you to know that we encourage the playerbase to have creative freedom in this. However there are a few points we would like to clarify, as we will be watching out for them:

1. Should your post or log involve or come to involve bodily violence towards other played characters or heavily implied topics that may be considered sensitive for others (self harm, drug and alcohol abuse, rape, et cetera), or, of course, those sensitive situations themselves, your post and, if applicable, the thread in particular, need to be labelled as being not safe for work, as well as possibly triggering, and the post needs to be locked to the community. We trust you to pass your own judgement on what is considered sensitive and what is not.
2. If you are going to have your character engage in an illicit sex act, and especially if their age is unclear, we ask that you have a full disclaimer concerning both their age and the age of yourself, as the player. The easiest way to do this is likely a note in the profile of your character journal. According to the Dreamwidth, it is a violation of their terms of service to write/share something that would be illegal under United States Law. Even for those of us who do not reside in the US, it's a standard to be aware of and we can likely agree that no one wants to see a player or the entire game in trouble for something like that.
3. When in doubt, err on the side of caution until you've found a determination on the subject, or brought it up with a mod.

✦ Activity Check

This activity check, now that we're getting back on schedule after the move, encompasses the month of February, from the 1st to the 29th. It will be open until the 10th of March.

Requirements:
→ 1 post from any time during the month in either carriero or carriero_logs
OR
→ one to three decently sized threads (approx. 30 comments total) in any post not your own in either carriero or carriero_logs

For our veteran players, you'll notice the requirement has been reduced. We feel this more accurately reflects the usual speed of the game.

If you find yourself not making this requirement, you have the until the end of the check to make it up. However, that activity cannot be used as activity for March. As usual, characters that were accepted after Feb. 14, or were on hiatus for more than two weeks during the month will be given leeway. One post of over ten sentences, for example, will suffice.

Please contact us with what activity you have if you find yourself falling short for whatever reason and wish to remain in the game.
